New
inventions
We
discover new inventions by study and research or sometimes by accident.
Descriptions
We
can use words to invent imaginary things.
Combinations
of words can describe a new thing, or process. Bringing these things to
reality is usually a little more difficult.
Help
for your Imagination
The
Xerotron enables us to produce combinations of
words
that describe new things, processes or concepts.
Things
that we would not have otherwise thought of!
The
interpretation of the combinations is what counts.
One
person will merely see a combination of three words that appear to have
no meaning.
Another
person will see a connection that can be interpreted as a new idea.
Other
Examples
Just
think of any household appliance and you will find they are all combinations
of previously known things.
A microwave
oven for example - a combination of a microwave generator and an oven!
You can be sure that the inventor of Radar never thought that a variation
of his invention would one day be used in nearly every household - for
cooking.
The "radar oven"
By
Default
The
Xerotron gives us new ideas by suggesting names for things or processes
that do not exist yet.
By
default it will also suggest things that already exist!
The
Dream
Sometime
in your life you will have what we call a "Grand Idea" or "The Dream."
Such
a grand idea was to land a man on the moon and then return him safely to
earth.
As
we all know the amazing achievement of this idea captured our imagination
in the process and will always
be
one of the greatest things ever accomplished.
A
good example of "The Dream" was the one eluded to
by
Martin Luther King.
No
doubt, his dream lives on, and is being realized
around
the world today.
We
need to remind ourselves that we can make our dreams come true, if only
we try hard enough.
The
Spin-Offs
The
wonderful thing is that in achieving the grand idea of going to the moon,
thousands of problems were encountered and they were all solved, one by
one, by men and women, thinking of ways to overcome the problems with New
Ideas! It's legend, the number of new materials and processes that
were invented in the space program.
Funny
Story
One
rather funny story is how the Americans went to enormous trouble to invent
a ball point pen that would write in a weightless environment aboard the
space shuttle.
They
eventually cracked the problem - much to their credit!
The
Russians being a little less concerned with trivia solved the problem of
writing in space, by using pencils!
That
made me think about the problems of using pencils in space! Imagine the
pollution of their breathing air that could have resulted from the indiscriminate
use of pencil sharpeners! Yea, well I guess they thought of that too!
